Sanitary fixtures
The following are the preferred sanitary fixtures to be included.
Refer to Fixtures for information on other associated fixtures.
Performance requirements as listed are to be met by any item used irrespective of whether the preferred fixture or an approved alternative is used.
All Sanitary Fixtures are to be rated based on the Water Efficiency Labelling and Standards (WELS) Scheme and as prescribed in AS6400.

Cleaner's Sink
Cleaners sinks where nominated in room data are to be Heavy duty Caroma/Fowler white vitreous china sink 575mm x 435mm with C.P. hinged bucket, grating and timber or rubber guard fixed to front edge 51mm C P outlet plug, chain and washer. Set front edge of sink 480mm above FFL.

Stainless Steel Sinks
Stainless Steel Sink to be provided in staff tea rooms and teapoints. To be polished s.s. single bowl sink and drainer units with centre bowl, C.P. outlet, plug chain and washer. Drainer to have upstand and skirting at back and ends as appropriate. Each unit to be fitted with 152mm dia. S.s. tea leaf strainer and matching bowl on one drainer, with waste connected to sink bowl waste.

Laboratory Sinks
Include Laboratory Sinks to the following rooms;
- Damp Laboratories, include Laboratory Sinks to perimeter benches of Laboratory room. Minimum of one for every four occupants.
- To Wet Laboratories, include Laboratory sinks to perimeter and central benches. Minimum of one for every two occupants
- To be polished s.s. single bowl sink and drainer units with centre bowl, C.P. outlet, plug chain and washer. Drainer to have upstand and skirting at back and ends as appropriate. Floor Wastes
Floor wastes to be 102mm cast brass gully traps with 102mm dia. Bras inlet risers, 102mm dia.
Brass extension piece as required and C.P. brass screwed grating, all grouted
Drainage Protection and Survey
The specification is to require that the Builder:
- Provides protection to pipework below slabs on grade during concrete pours.
- Provides to the Superintendent a video of all drainage pipework under floor slabs shortly after the slab pours are complete.
- Effectively seals all sanitary outlets in the building during construction to avoid any foreign material being put into the drainage system.
- Provide a video of all drainage pipework before Practical Completion.
These precautions are in addition to the water tests and pipe capping normally required in hydraulics specifications.
