Design Guidelines
Macquarie University Property

Communications / AV and IT

The design of Communication and Audio Visual (AV) Services is to be in accordance with relevant Australian standards and in consultation with Macquarie University IT (MQ IT) and Audio Visual Technology Services (AVTS).

The following elements are to be assessed by the designer with consideration to individual space types.

IT, Voice and Data

Designer shall be considerate of functionality and architectural finishes when selecting power outlets

Voice and Data Outlet

Generally white PVC RJ45 Cat 6a double outlet. Refer to the design guideline for quantity and spacing of outlets.

Wireless Access Point (WAP) Equipment

Provide RJ45 Cat 6a outlets for WAP devices throughout ceiling spaces for areas requiring wireless network coverage.

Comms Equipment

MQ IT should be consulted when specifying any comms equipment and when designing Comms rooms.  Standard equipment specifications have been prepared for various Comms room requirements:

MQU001 - 800 Wide x 1000 Deep Rack

MQU002 - 2 x 47RU 800 Wide x 1000 Deep Racks Bayed Together
